Maintenance Technician

Job Overview

Charlotte’s Coffee House is seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Technician to support the upkeep and functionality of our café locations. In this hands-on role, you will handle day-to-day repairs, equipment upkeep, routine inspections, and occasional installations. You’ll work independently while staying flexible and responsive to urgent needs. This position operates on a monthly retainer with additional hourly pay for work beyond the base hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general repairs on equipment such as espresso machines, refrigerators, fixtures, and furniture.
   
• Identify maintenance issues and determine whether repairs can be handled in-house or require professional services.
   
• Coordinate and oversee vendor repairs when outside support is needed, with a focus on quality and cost-efficiency
   
• Assemble and install new items (e.g., shelving, signage, seating) and securely mount décor or promotional materials.
   
• Conduct routine inspections and proactively address potential maintenance concerns.ns
   
• Maintain a clean and organized work area with all tools and supplies properly stored.
   
• Respond to on-call maintenance requests, including occasional evenings and weekends.
   

Qualifications

• Experience in general maintenance, repair, or a related field
   
• Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
   
• Strong troubleshooting and time management skills
   
• Excellent communication for coordinating with managers and vendors
   
• Ability to work independently and make cost-conscious decisions
   
• Physically capable of lifting heavy objects and using ladders or power tools
   
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
   
• Flexibility for on-call hours as needed
   

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with café or restaurant equipment (espresso machines, grinders, etc.)
   
• Light carpentry or furniture assembly experience
   
• Experience negotiating with external vendors
   

Compensation

• Monthly Retainer: $300/month
• Covers up to 5 hours of maintenance work per month.
• Hourly Rate: $25/hour for any hours worked beyond the initial 5 hours.
• Example: If 8 hours are worked in a month, the total compensation is: $300 retainer + (3 extra hours × $25) = $375
